Project Overview

The Jean & Ric Edelman Fossil Park & Museum is a 44,000-square-foot destination for scientific discovery, education, and hands-on exploration. Set within a former marl quarry containing 66-million-year-old fossils, the museum connects immersive exhibits, research facilities, learning spaces, and an active fossil dig site where visitors can explore alongside researchers.

The building uses mass timber, concrete, expansive glazing, and outdoor terraces to connect visitors with the surrounding quarry and landscape. Designed around ambitious sustainability goals, the museum combines paleontology, interactive learning, and environmental education within a distinctive indoor-outdoor visitor experience.

Museum + Learning Spaces

Immersive galleries, educational laboratories, interactive exhibits, a theater, and flexible visitor spaces bring paleontology and scientific research to life.

Fossil Discovery

The museum connects directly to the active quarry, where visitors can participate in fossil excavation and engage with evidence from the end of the Cretaceous Period.

Sustainable Design

Mass timber construction, renewable energy systems, extensive glazing, and net-zero carbon goals connect the building’s design with its environmental mission.
