The Essex County Wynona Lipman Family Courthouse is an eight-story, 266,000-square-foot judicial facility in downtown Newark. The building consolidates juvenile and family court services into one central location with 22 courtrooms, judicial chambers, supporting agencies, and separate secure circulation systems for the public, judiciary, staff, and individuals in custody.
A two-story atrium lobby, public entry plaza, and colorful translucent art-glass façade create a more welcoming courthouse environment. Child-friendly spaces and dedicated playrooms further support families navigating sensitive court matters while balancing the facility’s security and operational requirements.
