Project Overview
The Montgomery County Justice Center is a comprehensive renovation and expansion of the County’s historic courthouse campus in downtown Norristown. The approximately 510,000-square-foot development combines restored historic spaces with a new 322,500-square-foot courthouse building, consolidating judicial and administrative operations within a modern civic campus.
A glass-enclosed atrium will connect the historic courthouse with the new building, creating a more open and welcoming public entrance. The project also includes modern court facilities, updated building systems, improved accessibility, sustainable design features, and a renewed public landscape centered around Hancock Square Park.
Courthouse Expansion
A new 322,500-square-foot addition will provide modern courtrooms, judicial support areas, administrative offices, and public service spaces.
Historic Restoration
The project preserves and restores the landmark 1856 courthouse, including historic courtrooms, exterior masonry, windows, murals, interior finishes, and its signature copper dome.
Civic Campus Renewal
A glass atrium, café, improved pedestrian connections, and the redesigned Hancock Square Park will create a more accessible and welcoming downtown government campus.
